DESIGNING OF SEAFOAM HOUR
EASE IN MOTION. LIGHTNESS WITH INTENT.
Study in Lightness and Ease, Inspired by Sunlit Water.
There is a time of day when everything softens — when the sun sits high but unpressured, and the water moves gently without urgency. Seafoam Hour was designed for that moment.
As the lightest expression within the Tidal Grace Collection, Seafoam Hour introduces playfulness without losing intention. It is relaxed, feminine, and fluid, offering a softer counterpoint to the more structured silhouettes that precede it. Where Crosscurrent holds tension and Midnight Tide carries depth, Seafoam Hour allows space to breathe.
This design is about ease — not absence of structure, but freedom within it.
At its core, Seafoam Hour reflects movement without demand.
DESIGN INTENTION
The bandeau-style top creates a clean, uninterrupted line across the body, allowing the ruffle details to carry the visual rhythm. These soft gathers are placed to move naturally with the wearer rather than sit decoratively, introducing motion without excess.
Paired with the coordinating ruffled short, the silhouette feels effortless and balanced — secure enough for swim, yet relaxed enough to read as resort wear. The proportions were carefully considered so the set feels intentional rather than casual, playful rather than youthful.
Every element was designed to feel light on the body, encouraging movement rather than restriction.
FROM SWIM TO RESORT
Seafoam Hour was designed for moments that unfold slowly.
This is a piece that moves naturally:
- from morning swim to poolside rest,
- from sun-warmed afternoons to casual lunches,
- from water to land without the need for transition.
Worn as swim, it feels easy and unencumbered. Worn beyond the water, it becomes a relaxed resort set — appropriate for travel days, coastal mornings, and moments where comfort and appearance are equally important.
THE COLOR STORY
The palette for Seafoam Hour draws from lighter coastal tones — soft blues, washed greens, and airy textures that echo water touched by sunlight. Rather than contrast, the colors work together in gentle layers, creating a sense of calm and continuity.
These tones were chosen to support the softness of the silhouette, reinforcing the feeling of lightness that defines the design.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
Seafoam Hour was developed during my studies at the Fashion Institute of Florida as part of an exploration into softness as a design choice. By prioritizing comfort, fabric behavior, and proportion, this piece was shaped to feel intuitive rather than constructed.
Through illustration and refinement, the design emerged as a reminder that intention does not always need to announce itself — sometimes it simply allows space.
